Levy and his wife Susan appear to have been the only Norfolk Kisby's during the 1830's and early 1840's. Levy's age in
the 1841 England census is given as "40", which could mean his actual age was anywhere between 40 and 44 at that time. It is
possible (but unlikely to be proven) that Levy is the same person as Levi Kisby, baptised in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire in 1799, whose
first wife Susannah died tragically young in 1821.
It is well documented that Emanuel Kisby, his brother Levi and a sister, Sarah, emigrated to the United States during the 1850's. The fact that this family grouping appears together in the 1841 census makes it almost certain that Levy and Susan are the correct parents of the intrepid threesome. In addition it is known from the memoirs of Emanuel's wife Esther (Emanuel was unable to write) that she came from West Head, Norfolk, England, which is a short distance from Levy and Susan's address in 1841.
